Bruce Thorogood has arranged a tour of the Met Office for the classic sailing community, as there is still plenty of space, the visit has been to opened up to SSC members.
This specially arranged free tour will start at 10.30 on Saturday October 27th.
There will be a guided tour of the Met Office in Exeter tailored to our interest in sailing followed by a talk based around ‘Understanding sources of forecast information available to yachtsmen at sea and the limitations of grib file forecasts compared to those with human input’ – together with a general Q&A session.
This tour will give a really informative insight into the scale, complexity and working of the Met Office and is a must for anyone interested in meteorology and the weather.
To book, email firstname.lastname@example.org before Oct 22nd with the following information required by security at the Met Office for each member of your party:
Date of birth
Address including postcode
Also add that you are from SSC
This information will be forwarded to the Met Office by October 22nd, so please supply it when booking.
Everyone will need to bring some form of identification with them on the day e.g. passport or driving licence.
More information on where to park and rendezvous will be sent to those booking in due course.
